White/Christmas

There are a few new things to report on. First, the inside of the house is textured and painted. Next, Chad and I started measuring and planning for all the window blinds. Lastly, our final walk through date is scheduled for December 16.

All the walls were textured and painted last week; the workers continue to put up molding, which should be done midweek. The next step is cabinets, then floors.

We plan to do the final walk through December 16. We are going to hire a professional house inspector to walk through with us, because we are not exactly sure what to look for. The builder will have 72 hours after the walk through to fix the items the inspector suggests fixing, and then the house will be ours.

Lucky for us, dad’s last day of work is about the same time we move in, so he can help us ready it for April. The most important thing is to get April’s room painted and set up, so she will feel comfortable when we move in.

This weekend, along with taking pictures of the house, Chad measured all the windows, so we can start planning for blinds. Chad, being a hermit, wants blinds on all the windows, so he can block out the light. I, on the other hand, want shears, instead of blinds, so the light can come in and my plants can stay healthy. I think we have compromised on shears in the living room and dinning room and blind everywhere else. If anyone has any advice about buying blinds let me know.

Stage 9

The drywall is complete. When Chad and I went by yesterday, the workers were taping and spackling. They were also working on the masonry for the front of the house. Lastly, our house is garden level, so we have several stairs that lead from the back door to the yard and they were installed.

Items left are cabinets, texture and paint, fixtures, and floors!

DRYWALL

It only took a couple days to put up the insulation and the construction crew has started putting up the drywall. Guess which room they stared the drywall in….the master bedroom. YEAH!! I got an email from the builder that said the house should be finished by Christmas. I would love to spend this Christmas in our new house, so I hope everything continue to go smoothly.

Stage 8

Our house is now in Stage # 8. This means it has passed the 2nd inspection and they are allowed to start finishing the inside. They should just be starting to hang drywall very soon if not already.
